We rely on tips from readers, experts and whistleblowers to uncover stories that matter. If you have information that fits our editorial mission — trustworthy Swedish journalism without spin — we want to hear from you. This page explains what makes a strong tip, how to send it securely and what happens after you do.
What makes a good tip?
A good tip is specific, verifiable and relevant to our coverage of Swedish news, politics, the economy, culture and society. We are especially interested in policy developments in the Riksdag and the government, municipal politics, economic trends, corporate behaviour, public-interest stories that affect people in Sweden or internationally, and cultural or social issues with a clear Swedish angle.
Tips that include documents, internal records, official correspondence or detailed accounts of events are most useful. Vague rumours or speculation without supporting evidence rarely lead to publication. If you have a hunch, explain why you think it matters and what you have seen or heard first-hand.
How can you reach us?
Send tips to tips@lagepunkt.de. For general newsroom enquiries use newsdesk@lagepunkt.de. Press-related matters go to press@lagepunkt.de. Our editorial staff – including Redaktionschef Maria Müller and Politikredaktör Niklas Zimmermann – monitor these addresses during working hours.
If you need to contact a specific reporter, you can find their direct email on our team page. For sensitive material, we recommend encrypted communication; contact us via tips@lagepunkt.de to request a secure channel.
What should you include in your tip?
Provide as much context as possible: names, dates, locations, organisations and any documentation you can share. Indicate how you obtained the information and whether you have first-hand knowledge. If you are a source inside an organisation, state your role or area of expertise without risking your identity – we will handle confidentiality carefully.
Include your preferred contact method (email, phone, Signal) if you are willing to be contacted for follow-up. You do not have to give your real name; pseudonymous tips are welcome as long as the material is credible.
How do we verify tips?
Every tip is assessed by our standards desk led by Lisa Schumacher, Ansvarig för faktagranskning. She and her team cross-check claims against multiple sources, documents and public records before any story is drafted. Our verification process follows the principles set out in our fact-checking policy and sources and standards guide.
We do not publish unverified material. If we cannot confirm a key claim, we will not run the story. We may contact you for additional evidence, but we will respect your confidentiality during the verification process.
Is my tip confidential?
Yes. We treat all tipsters with discretion. You can submit information anonymously, and we will not reveal your identity to anyone outside the editorial team without your explicit consent. Our legal and privacy obligations, including those under Swedish press confidentiality law, govern how we handle source material.
If you wish to remain completely anonymous, do not include identifying details in your message. For extremely sensitive submissions, we can arrange encrypted communication or a secure drop.
What happens after you submit a tip?
We acknowledge receipt within 48 hours if you provided a contact address. The relevant editor – often Maria Müller or the beat reporter whose area matches your tip – reviews it. If the tip is promising, we begin verification. If it does not fit our coverage or lacks sufficient evidence, we may decline to pursue it. We cannot promise every tip leads to a story, but we will consider each one seriously.
If we decide to publish, we will contact you to discuss how your information will be used and whether you want to be named or remain anonymous. Corrections or follow-ups after publication are handled by our corrections desk at corrections@lagepunkt.de under our corrections policy.
What can you expect from us
You can expect a professional, ethical handling of your tip. Our editorial team – led by Chefredaktör Thomas Kuhn – is committed to accuracy, fairness and transparency. We will not publish anything based solely on a single anonymous tip without corroboration. We will correct errors promptly and publicly. We will protect your identity if you request it, and we will never outsource editorial judgment to any tool or system. Every story undergoes human review before publication, as detailed in our AI and automation policy.
