Unsere Geschichte

Lagepunkt was founded in 2024 by Lagepunkt Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar, to fill a gap in Swedish news coverage: clear, practical reporting that gives readers context without noise. The site delivers daily coverage of Swedish politics, economy, culture and current affairs for both domestic and international audiences – and it is edited from Stockholm with a Scandinavian editorial voice.

Why was Lagepunkt founded?

The founders saw that Swedish news consumers often faced a choice between fast headline services and deep dives that assumed prior knowledge. No outlet offered concise, well-sourced reporting that explained the mechanics behind a story – how a policy works, what the data says, who benefits or loses – in a way busy readers could use. Lagepunkt was created to be that missing middle: practical journalism that respects your time and your intelligence.

Lagepunkt Media Ltd. invested in a small, dedicated newsroom with a clear mandate: produce trustworthy Swedish journalism that helps readers understand complex issues without spin or oversimplification. The site launched with a core team of five editors and reporters, all named on every article, and a fact‑checking process that verifies claims before publication. We are independent – no party affiliation, no shareholder with an editorial agenda.

What is our editorial philosophy under Thomas Kuhn?

Thomas Kuhn, as chefredaktör, sets the editorial direction and is responsible for all publication decisions and corrections. His philosophy is straightforward: every article must answer the question “so what?” – why this matters to a reader in Stockholm, Malmö or abroad – and must be transparent about sources, uncertainties and competing viewpoints.

Kuhn and the team reject false balance: when the evidence is clear, the reporting says so. They also reject clickbait and alarmist framing. The goal is to inform, not to provoke. AI‑assisted tools may support research or drafting but never replace human judgement; every piece is approved by a human editor, and no fabricated quotes, sources or bylines are tolerated. That policy is codified in our AI & automation policy.

Who is responsible for what we publish?

The editorial structure is flat but clear. Maria Müller, redaktionschef, runs the daily newsroom, commissions stories and reviews headlines. Niklas Zimmermann, politikredaktör, covers the Riksdag, government and municipal politics. Johanna Fuchs, Wirtschaftreporter, handles economy, markets and household finance. Maximilian Roth, kultur- och samhällsredaktör, oversees culture, lifestyle and society coverage. Lisa Schumacher leads fact‑checking, source verification and corrections.

Every article carries a named writer, a reviewer and a fact‑checker – you can see our full team and their contact details on the Our Team page. Decisions about what to cover are made collectively in a morning editorial meeting and follow a public set of editorial standards available in our editorial policy.

How do we handle mistakes?

We correct errors promptly and transparently. Any correction is noted at the foot of the article with a dated explanation of what changed and why. Major corrections are also logged on our corrections page. Readers can report suspected errors directly to our corrections desk at corrections@lagepunkt.de.

Our fact‑checking process, led by Lisa Schumacher, verifies all claims – especially those that involve data, statistics, legal references or quotations – before publication. If a source is disputed or unverifiable, we either name the source so readers can judge or we remove the claim. Full details are in our corrections policy and fact‑checking policy.

What you can expect from us

Every article on Lagepunkt is clearly bylined; you know who wrote it, who edited it and who fact‑checked it. We link to original sources whenever possible – government reports, academic studies, official statistics, press releases – so you can verify the information yourself. When we use terms like “experts say” we name the experts, their affiliation and the context of the research.

We are transparent about our sources and methodology. Our Sources & Standards page explains how we select, attribute and handle confidential sources. Sponsored content and affiliate links are clearly labelled; commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions. You will never see a paywall or a surprise charge – all our news articles are free to read, and our revenue comes from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships and newsletter sponsorships, all disclosed on our ownership & funding page.

How is Lagepunkt funded?

Lagepunkt Media Ltd. owns and operates the site without external investor pressure. Revenue is drawn from display advertising, affiliate links (which are clearly disclosed), commercial partnerships, sponsored content (always labelled “Sponsored” or “Partner Content”), newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. No funding source can dictate editorial conclusions – that is contractually guaranteed in every commercial agreement.

Full financial transparency is available on our ownership & funding page, which lists our parent company, registered address and the revenue breakdown. We also publish a separate advertising & affiliate disclosure and a sponsored content policy.
