Berichtigungspolitik

Lagepunkt is committed to accuracy and transparency. When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and clearly. This corrections policy explains how we handle mistakes and how you can report them.

How can you report an error?

If you spot a factual error, omission or misleading statement in any of our articles, please email corrections@lagepunkt.de. Include the article headline, the specific error you believe exists, and your source or evidence for the correction. You may also add your contact details if you wish to receive a follow-up, though anonymous reports are accepted.

Our fact-checking desk, led by Lisa Schumacher (Ansvarig för faktagranskning, emma.sandberg@lagepunkt.de), reviews every submission. For urgent or sensitive claims, you can also telephone the Swedish editorial line on +49 30 577 013 49. We treat every report seriously and will acknowledge receipt within one working day.

Who handles corrections at Lagepunkt?

Corrections are managed by the standards desk under Lisa Schumacher, who oversees fact‑checking, source verification and all published corrections. She coordinates with the relevant section editor – for example, Niklas Zimmermann for political articles or Johanna Fuchs for economic coverage – to verify the reported error against original sources.

If the error affects editorial standards or legal obligations, Chefredaktör Thomas Kuhn (anders.lindqvist@lagepunkt.de, +46 8 525 030 61) is notified. Thomas Kuhn has final authority on publication decisions, retractions and any exceptional corrections that may require a formal note from the publisher, Lagepunkt Media Ltd. Our editorial policy sets out the broader principles that guide this process.

What happens once an error is confirmed?

Once an error is verified, we act immediately. For material errors – those that affect the factual accuracy or overall fairness of an article – we update the text and append a clear correction note at the beginning or end of the piece. The note states what was originally published, what has been corrected, and the date of the change.

Minor errors, such as typos or date mistakes that do not alter meaning, are corrected silently with an internal record. If an error is significant enough to change the article’s conclusion, we may replace the piece with a corrected version and link to an archived copy of the original. Our fact‑checking policy explains the verification steps we take before any article is published.

How quickly will we respond?

We aim to acknowledge all error reports within 24 hours, regardless of the channel used. For straightforward factual corrections, we typically implement the update and publish the correction note within five business days. Complex cases that require additional source checks or legal review may take longer; we will keep you informed of progress.

If a correction is urgent – for example, if it involves a live news story or a widely shared article – we will prioritise it and may issue a short statement on the article itself before the full correction is written. You can always track the status of your report by emailing corrections@lagepunkt.de.

What you can expect from us

You can expect that every correction is made transparently, with a clear explanation of what changed and why. We never hide behind vague language such as “an earlier version misstated”. Instead, we name the original error explicitly. All correction notes are permanent and cannot be removed, except in cases where a legal takedown is required, as described in our copyright takedown policy.

We also review our corrections quarterly at the editorial level to identify patterns and improve our editorial processes. This commitment to accountability is part of our wider mission: trustworthy Swedish journalism that helps readers understand complex issues without spin or oversimplification. Commercial relationships – whether advertising, affiliate links or sponsored content – never influence our correction decisions.

What if you are not satisfied with our response?

If you believe a correction was inadequate or not handled fairly, you can escalate directly to Chefredaktör Thomas Kuhn via email (anders.lindqvist@lagepunkt.de) or by telephone (+46 8 525 030 61). He will review the case and issue a final decision. If the matter concerns broader editorial conduct, you may also file a formal complaint using our complaints procedure.

For serious or repeated failures, Lagepunkt Media Ltd., registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry), may be contacted through our publisher’s office. However, we encourage you to exhaust our internal process first, as it is the fastest route to resolution.
