Lagepunkt.de is committed to trustworthy Swedish journalism that helps readers understand complex issues without spin or oversimplification. Our editorial policy sets out the standards, processes and principles that govern every piece of content we publish, from daily news to opinion and sponsored material.
What is our editorial process?
Every article at Lagepunkt.de is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor and fact-checked before publication. This three-step process ensures accuracy, clarity and fairness in every story we publish.
Writers research and draft their pieces using verified sources. The Redaktionschef (Maria Müller) reviews headlines and commissioning decisions. The Chefredaktör, Thomas Kuhn, has final responsibility for editorial standards and publication decisions. Fact-checking is led by Lisa Schumacher, who verifies sources and data before any article goes live. AI-assisted tools may support research or drafting but never replace human editorial judgement; every piece is approved by a human editor.
How do we distinguish between news, opinion, features, sponsored and affiliate content?
We clearly label every type of content so readers know what they are reading. News articles report facts without commentary. Opinion pieces are marked as “Meinung” or “Kommentar”. Features carry a “Hintergrund” label. Sponsored content is always labelled “Anzeige” or “Sponsored”. Affiliate links are disclosed at the point of use.
Our sponsored content policy ensures commercial material is clearly separated from editorial. Affiliate relationships are disclosed in accordance with our advertising and affiliate disclosure. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions; our newsroom makes all editorial decisions independently.
Who is responsible for what we publish?
Chefredaktör Thomas Kuhn (anders.lindqvist@lagepunkt.de) is ultimately responsible for all editorial content, corrections and compliance with this policy. He oversees the entire newsroom and answers directly to Lagepunkt Media Ltd.
Maria Müller, Redaktionschef, manages daily newsroom operations and headline review. Niklas Zimmermann, Politikredaktör, covers the Riksdag, government and municipal politics. Johanna Fuchs, Wirtschaftreporter, covers economy, markets and household finance. Maximilian Roth, Kultur- och samhällsredaktör, handles culture, lifestyle and society. Lisa Schumacher leads fact-checking. Full contact details are on our team page.
What you can expect from us
You can expect accurate, well-sourced journalism that is transparent about its methods and motives. We do not oversimplify complex topics. We correct errors promptly and clearly. We label all content types honestly.
We maintain full editorial independence from our owners, Lagepunkt Media Ltd, based in Gibraltar. Funding comes from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. None of these influence editorial decisions. For details see ownership and funding.
How do we handle attribution and named writers?
Every article carries the name of the writer who drafted it, along with a short biography. This allows readers to assess the author’s expertise and perspective. Byline transparency is a core part of our trustworthiness.
We never publish anonymous or pseudonymous journalism. Guest contributors are clearly identified. Editors and fact-checkers are named on the article metadata. If AI-assisted tools have been used in research or formatting, that is disclosed in the article footer. Our AI automation policy explains exactly how such tools are used and governed.
How do we ensure independence from commercial interests?
Our editorial team makes all content decisions without input from advertisers, sponsors or partners. Sponsored content is managed by a separate commercial team and clearly labelled. Affiliate links are disclosed. No advertiser can dictate coverage or suppress a story.
We publish an ownership and funding page that lists all revenue sources. Our advertising and affiliate disclosure provides further detail on how commercial relationships work. Any material that involves payment or partnership is flagged upfront.
What is our approach to AI and automation?
AI tools may support research, editing, formatting, translation, metadata, headline options, summaries and transcription. All published editorial content is reviewed by a human editor. AI must never fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles.
We have a dedicated AI automation policy that outlines specific permitted uses and prohibitions. Readers can assume that any piece they read has passed human editorial review, even if AI-assisted tools were used in preparation.
How can you complain or raise concerns?
If you believe we have made an error, published inaccurate or misleading content, or breached our editorial standards, please contact us. We take complaints seriously and investigate every one.
You can email the corrections team at corrections@lagepunkt.de or use the dedicated complaints form on our complaints procedure page. For urgent factual errors, contact the fact-checking team directly at factcheck@lagepunkt.de or Lisa Schumacher at emma.sandberg@lagepunkt.de.
